The Weekly Ten
Among The Restless
“6 Years Of Madness” drives straight through the ache
Vulnerable verses, choruses built for shouting back.
Six years of madness, one debut
Some bands arrive overnight; Among The Restless took the long road and it shows in the best way. The Naarm/Melbourne group cut their teeth on two EPs — Define (2022) and All I Want Is Everything (2023) — toured the East Coast three times over, earned triple j airplay, and got nominated for the AMPlify Award at the 2024 Music Victoria Awards. Now the debut album, Seasons, finally lands October 30.
“6 Years Of Madness” was one of the last tracks recorded for it: a vulnerable yet driving alt-rock gem — personal struggle rendered as forward motion, the verses exposed and the choruses hitting like a door kicked open.
Why it lands
- The engine — Driving guitars that never let the vulnerability curdle into self-pity.
- The timing — A debut-album single should feel like a statement of arrival. This one does.
- The road ahead — The Seasons Tour hits Wollongong, Sydney, Canberra and San Remo through November and December, then the Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Brisbane and Melbourne in January.
The Weekly Ten says
“6 Years Of Madness” doesn’t reinvent alt-rock, but it doesn’t need to — it plays the form with total conviction and a chorus that sticks.
THE WEEKLY TEN RATING: 4.1 / 5
